I forgot to mention that i saw this a couple of nights ago. Adapted from a melodramatic short story by Wilde and given a huge glorious colourful does of irony by being framed in a Pollock's Toy Theatre set - it really was one of the most beautiful sets i have seen. It gave the cast liberty to give Wilde's delicious lines the theatricality they needed. A very witty production, fast and slick and over in under two hours - maybe that was a bit too short. One more twist would have been could. And it took dear Kate O'Mara to hold the stage and show just how much venom and scandal could be wrung out of some very familiar lines. She may have been treading the boards a good few years but she certainly has prescence. A jolly and witty evening, with a gorgeous set. Let's describe the even as full blooded.
