White Christmas

January 2nd 2010 - The Lowry.

Rather than their spectacular but synthetic pantos with novelty casting, the Lowry has opted for a safe musical of White Christmas, and has been rewarded with a theatre packed to the rafters for every night of their eight week run, and rightly so. It's huge fun in a wonderfully cheesy way. The plot is so fragile and even by the end huge holes had appeared that saw no attempts to get resolved, but hell with a score like that, and huge production number following huge production number, and great ballads, and good old fashioned scenery, and snow, what more could you want. A great cast, especially Louise Plowright and Adam Cooper giving everything. A joyous evening that saw the audience beaming and humming and skipping. Full marks too, to those back stage as they must have been working their scene shifting, costume changing butts off.
